No. PMI® membership and chapter membership are open to anyone with an interest in project management — no prior certification, degree, or work experience is required. The PMP® and other certifications are separate, optional achievements you may pursue after joining.
There are no prerequisites for standard Individual or Student membership. Anyone can join. Student membership requires enrolment at an accredited institution. Retiree membership is available to individuals who have left the full-time workforce.
